Manifesting with the Moon: What Each Phase Is For
Manifesting with the moon, phase by phase: what the new moon, first quarter, full moon and last quarter are each for, and one small thing to do.
Manifesting with the moon means giving each part of the month one job. You name what you're calling in at the new moon, take a step as the Moon grows, receive at the full moon, and clear some room as it fades. That's the whole method. The Moon keeps the time, so you don't have to.
Here's what each phase is for, one small thing to do at each, and the dates for the rest of 2026.
The month in one look
The Moon takes about twenty-nine and a half days to go from one new moon to the next. Along the way it passes four turning points, roughly a week apart.
- New moon. The Moon sits between us and the Sun, and the night is dark. It's for naming what you're calling in. Write one sentence, in the present tense.
- First quarter. Half the Moon is lit, and it's growing. It's for taking a step. Do one thing toward it before you feel ready.
- Full moon. The Moon is opposite the Sun and fully lit. It's for receiving what has arrived. List what turned up, and say thank you.
- Last quarter. Half the Moon is lit, and it's fading. It's for making room. Put one thing down.
You can check the moon phase today any time you're not sure where you are in the month.
New moon: name it
The new moon is the darkest night of the month. In Auriana's reading, that dark is seed time. Whatever you name now is planted, even though nothing shows yet.
So the job is small. Say plainly what you're calling in, in one sentence, in the present tense. "Good work is finding me" does more than "I want a better job." Then leave the how alone.
The day of the new moon and the two days after are all good for this. There's a five-minute version in how to set new moon intentions.
First quarter: take a step
About a week later, the Moon is half lit and getting brighter each night. This is when the first arrivals tend to show up, and they're often small and easy to explain away. A message. An idea. A door you hadn't noticed.
Your job is to meet it. Send the reply, make the call, say yes to the invitation. One step, before you feel ready. You're showing what you named that you meant it.
Full moon: receive
Two weeks after the new moon, the Moon is fully lit. This is landing time: a moment to take in what has arrived since the new moon.
Look back over the fortnight and write down what turned up, including the things that seem too small to count. Then say thank you for one of them, out loud. Receiving is a skill, and most of us are better at asking than at taking in what we're given.
The next one is the full moon in Taurus on 26 October 2026.
Last quarter: make room
In the last week, the Moon fades back toward dark. This is the part people skip, and it matters. New things need somewhere to land.
Put one thing down. A commitment you've outgrown, a drawer, a grudge, a plan that was never yours. You're not losing anything. You're making space for the next new moon.

Where the sign comes in
Every new and full moon falls in a sign, and the sign colours what that moon is good for. A new moon in Libra leans toward partnership and fair exchange. A full moon in Taurus leans toward comfort, money and the things you can touch.
Your own moon sign matters too. It's where the Moon was when you were born, and it says something about how you receive.
Questions people ask
Do I have to follow every phase?
No. If you only do one thing, set an intention at the new moon and look back at the full moon. Those two alone make a rhythm.
What if I miss the new moon?
Start where you are. Check the phase today and do the job that belongs to it. The next new moon is never more than a month away.
Will this make what I want happen?
Nobody can tell you that, and this practice doesn't try to. What it gives you is a steady rhythm of naming, acting, noticing and clearing, which is a good way to live whether or not you ever look up.
